Why it works

It looks like play. It works like practice.

Kids don’t learn to join in, calm down or work it out from being told. They learn it by doing it, over and over, in moments that matter to them, with someone nearby to coach.

That is what play gives them. Every activity on a Sunday is chosen for the skill underneath it.

If your child… Hangs back when other kids are playing

What we’re doing: Tag on the turf and group games, where a new game starts every few minutes.

How play grows it: Every new game is another chance to join in. We coach the first few (“What could you be in this game?”), then step back. (peer entry skills)

The growth you’ll see: They come home from recess with a new friend’s name.

If your child… Needs you for everything

What we’re doing: Walking in, picking a craft or a station, and seeing it through.

How play grows it: Choosing, starting and finishing something on their own. We ask “What could you try first?” before we help, so they find out they can. (executive function)

The growth you’ll see: Drop off turns into a quick wave, and they find something to do while you finish a call.

If your child… Falls apart when they lose

What we’re doing: Chess, board games and relay races.

How play grows it: Losing a game is a small, safe version of a big feeling. We name it, help them calm down, and offer a rematch. Every round is practice. (frustration tolerance)

The growth you’ll see: They lose and ask to play again, and a hard moment at school passes faster.

If your child… Ends every disagreement with “MOM!”

What we’re doing: Building foam forts and big projects together.

How play grows it: Two kids, one block, one plan to agree on. We stay close and ask “What could work?” instead of solving it for them. (social problem solving)

The growth you’ll see: They settle a sibling squabble before calling for you.

Why I built The Clubhouse

I spent 13 years in schools as a special educator, and I have my master’s in school psychology. Over and over, I watched kids get told to share, wait their turn, calm down and try again, with almost nowhere to practice those things outside of a classroom.

The Clubhouse is that place. Our team knows when to coach and when to let kids figure it out. Your kids will just tell you it was fun.

“Nicole and her team are kind, welcoming, and communicative. They helped our son navigate a few tough drop offs, and before long he was excited to go every day.”
Molly H., Clubhouse parent
“We ADORE The Clubhouse! Nicole is truly an amazing person and my kids never leave without a smile… I’ve also never seen them so TIRED.”
Alyse J., Clubhouse parent

One Sunday at a time. They come home tired, and a little more ready for the week.
